Our experiences with American Irrigation Repair are excellent. Always polite and professional, from the phone call to the service, we highly recommend them. We really appreciate their follow up which seems to be lacking in so many businesses these days, i.e. calling us after our pool was put in to have our sprinkler system checked. When we had our drip irrigation converted to pop up heads, Sean offered a small hose connected to the sprinklers to water the pot on the front porch for when we're away - what an awesome feature! Great service! A while ago I had low pressure problems which was impacting my sprinklers working properly. I called on them as I had seen them at some neighbors'. They came and gave an estimate which was competitive with others I had called on. The crew was formidable! This company is absolutely the real deal. If you need sprinkler system help, this is the company. I had a broken line compliments of a different landscape company. I called The number and the office manager Kristen arranged for Juan and his partner to come out that morning. Juan was knowledgeable about my system and easy to work with. He even let me know of a couple serious issues with my system I was unaware of. Juan gave me a quick, thorough, and fairly priced quote, and he and his partner were done 2 hours later. I have waited a couple of weeks to write this review, as I didn't want to write the review while angry. We have been loyal customers of American Irrigation Repair for the last few years. That said, we will never contact this company again. July 31 we had them out to fully inspect and repair our system, as the last 3 stations were not working. Juan M. and another gentleman were very kind and professional; I found them to well represent the company. $370 later, I believed our system to be up and running.... hindsight, I would've asked to see all stations working before the men left. Jump forward to the following Tuesday (they were here Thurs prior) and I realized the same stations were not functioning. Once the guys were able to make it out, Juan M. and the other gentleman informed me that the valve was broken. I asked if this was something they repaired before and he replied "No, this has not been working for a long time" (explains why our magnolia trees are not faring well). After I inquired as to why I was being billed another $135, Juan asked me to call the office. I contacted the office, shared with her (Tracey?? Maybe??) my concerns as Juan said this "has not been working for a long time" - and we had just paid $370 to repair the system. She then calls Juan, followed by returning my call, stating "He didn't mean to say that, you know how broken English can be." I understand that a plastic valve can break - I do not understand how your technician tells me, in an honest fashion, that it has not been working in a long time, and you want me to pay an additional $135 for this after I just gave $370 FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE of stations 10-12 not working!! I expressed my concern, in a calm and clear manner (to the woman in the office - again - Tracey??) and asked that I call my husband before approving the work because I felt as though I was being lied to - she then offered to call my husband, in the event I "did not understand the issue." Once I chatted with my husband and we decided to bite the bullet, fix the system and never deal with this woman/company again - I informed Juan that it would be okay to repair the system. He immediately handed me the broken valve and said the work was already completed and showed me all stations in working order. While it was ultimately not Juan's fault - I believed him to be helpful by repairing the valve - but I wonder what they would've done had we refused their service and the work already completed?? I called the same woman in the office again to share my concern about the situation and my feeling that I received blatantly dishonest service. She said "I'll tell the owner" and that was it! I don't often write reviews - but I write this review for 2 reasons... 1. I would like the owner to know that Juan M. was very kind and apologetic and I believe him to be telling the truth. I still believe him to be an employee you should be proud to have on your team. His English was suggested to be "broken" and I found him to be intelligible on both encounters - soft spoken, but I could understand him. It is very important to me that you know I feel the dishonesty came from the business office and not the field technicians. 2. I would caution anyone moving forward with this company to be very detailed and scrutinize all services, estimates, billing practices and guarantees. The only guarantee I received was that I should remove their sticker from the recently purchased module in my garage (that I now wonder if it was even in need of repair) and call a different company in the future!! I know it's irritating when these systems don't behave. Allow me to speak to your points: Your frustration is with two separate and different repairs made a couple weeks apart. The first repair was to your controller, a module that ran stations 10, 11, and 12 ($78). The second repair was to your electric control valve for your station 10 ($132). My techs opinion was that the valve had not been working correctly for a long time (aged internal rubber parts) and that the sudden, frequent activations after our initial controller repair may have triggered the final complete failure. Unfortunately, this happens from time to time with electric control valves. I understand your concern over the circumstances and would like to discuss this further with you. I had a sprinkler head added and a "check up". The sprinkler head was fine, but I don't know what they were checking for the check up. After the check up, my neighbor started to complain that my sprinklers were flooding his yard. All the sprinklers on that side of the yard were not spraying my yard, but spraying directly on his yard. I had to adjust every thing myself so this wouldn't be a problem. Lately, I have noticed that my front yard was turning brown. When I turned on the sprinklers to figure out what was going on, I noticed that all the sprinklers were spraying past the lawn and onto the street, driveway or sidewalk. What did they check if not coverage? Finding someone who knows what they are doing to fix these problems. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! So glad I didn't sign up for their yearly fee based service!!! Excellent service from a local company! Estimate was delivered super fast, and they were not only the cheapest price but also used the equipment I prefer (Hunter roters and Rainbird sprays). Work was scheduled within 3 days and was completed as agreed and in less time than was estimated. We added a new zone for roters and added two sprays to an existing zone. We have had Uriel O., Agustin V., and Paul out to our house 3 times in the last 4 years and have nothing but the best to say about these guys. We first moved in 3.5 years ago and they repaired our sprinklers in the front yard & gave us an estimate for getting the backyard broken ones to work. We were newlyweds and on a budget so we just did the front. We have had no issues with their work and they work great. Recently we decided it was time to get sprinklers in the back working and add some more for full coverage. The guys came out and gave us an estimate (which was WAY better pricing than a competitor) plus the guys are professional, on-time and clean up after themselves. They also fixed a broken water valve for us that was causing our water bill to skyrocket. The new sprinkler system works great and they were nice enough to add a little sprinkler head for one odd-ball plant for free just b/c they said they knew we needed it! I highly recommend Uriel O., Agustin V., and Paul! They were great guys and I wish all service trade professionals were actually professional like these 3 guys. I saw them clean up their water bottles & drinks before leaving and they locked the gate back perfectly to prevent our dog from getting out. The price was fair and the work was high quality. If we ever need anything else we will call them. Highly recommend! They also worked their tails off in July in 104 degree heat and still were all smiling and friendly. That's customer service! Update as of March 2017: The owner of the company called me to find out what exactly happened. I explained to him that a guy came out, said he fixed what was the issue. After the buyer called American Irrigation, she realized that nothing had been fixed. I called company again to fix issue and they did. My issue was that I was charged twice for the service call. The owner refunded the first service call via check. He listened to my feedback, some good and some bad. The bad: I wasn't there on the first visit, but had to schedule it when I did so it would be resolved before our closing. I was in another state for my mom's funeral. We talked about how the owner needs to be there to pass information to technician. The good: I thought I had paid for the second visit, but had not. A couple of months went by because we were in the middle of a move and kept missing the calls. The gals in the office were totally patient during this time. I finally got it paid and received the refund so at the end of the day they made it right. Lesson for consumer: Be there when technician is there, ask questions and if you don't feel like you're getting a full answer, call the office. Lesson for business owners: When I was trying to explain that I paid for two service calls, I stated that I was going to write a Yelp review to describe the experience. The person that took the call said, ok. When we say we are going to write a review, don't blow us off. Nobody's perfect, but you may want to resolve the issue before the review hits the interweb. So, after the winter, my back-flow preventer was pouring water out the bottom. I called American Irrigation to come look at it, expecting it may have gone bad with the freeze this year. The guys came out, looked at it and told me I needed a new one...cost: $598. Glad I refused and did more research. Find out, after watching YouTube to learn how to disassemble the preventer, it was a o-ring that had become warped. Ordered a $25.00 rubber replacement parts kits and fixed it myself. Careful on the up-charge and research the fix first. Other than that, the guys did a good job with the service. Also, keep in mind the first visit, even if you join the $79 twice a year club, is a separate $99 charge. I take complete responsibility for my technician recommending replacement of your RP backflow preventer. In my professional experience over many tens of thousands of jobs we've found that rpz valves ,when subjected to internal icing, often have very slightly bent seats or metal casings. This mis-alignment is what leads to the o-ring blowout, plus can cause additional un-visible damages to the stainless / brass ball valves and seats. Unfortunately, we had to learn this the hard way by making repeat visits to some customer's jobs replacing o-rings seats and other parts trying to resolve leaks. Ultimately, we often ended up replacing the valves at a much higher cost and frustration to everyone involved. In this instance, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I still firmly believe the most long-term trouble free solution for you would be valve replacement. I'll never fault someone for making repairs on their own to save some cash!
